What is the Woodpecker AP-H?
The AP-H is an air polishing handpiece made by Woodpecker (Guilin Woodpecker Medical Instrument Co., China). Like the NSK Prophy-Mate neo and the Acteon AIR-N-GO easy, it mounts on the dental unit's coupling and runs on the unit's air and water supply, so there is no console. Distributors describe it as a supragingival device for removing biofilm, stain and soft plaque; the AP-H Plus variant adds a nozzle for subgingival use with fine glycine powder.

How much does the Woodpecker AP-H cost?
A major EU online distributor listed the AP-H at €328.00 ex-VAT (€393.60 including 20% VAT; recommended price €468.57) in October 2026, and the AP-H Plus at €428.00 ex-VAT (recommended €611.43). In the US, Practicon listed the AP-H L at $375.99. That makes the AP-H the lowest-priced branded coupling handpiece in our comparison by a wide margin. Dental treatment is VAT-exempt in the EU, so most clinics cannot reclaim VAT on equipment; budget for the VAT-inclusive price where it applies.

Which powders can it use?
Distributor documentation lists sodium bicarbonate and glycine powders of 40–65 µm for supragingival work, and 25 µm glycine for subgingival work with the AP-H Plus nozzle. Erythritol is not an option on the EU market: EMS holds the European patent on erythritol air polishing powder, so non-EMS devices use other chemistries. Does the brand matter clinically?
Most published air polishing studies test powders and protocols on other manufacturers' equipment. We are not aware of peer-reviewed studies on the AP-H itself, so buyers rely on the general air polishing literature, such as our summaries of air polishing safety and the erythritol vs glycine evidence, plus the manufacturer's specifications. Correct powder choice, working distance and settings within the stated pressure ranges matter whichever handpiece you use.

Woodpecker's tabletop option: the PT-E
For ultrasonic scaling and air polishing in one unit, Woodpecker sells the PT-E combined tabletop system. Distributor listings describe six ultrasonic modes, water heating with four settings (25–40 °C for air polishing), an LED air polishing handpiece, titanium-alloy handpieces, separate supragingival and subgingival air polishing handpieces in the kit, and a touch interface in 15 languages. EU distributors listed it at €6,399–€6,999 ex-VAT in October 2026 (the higher pack includes a trolley); our profitability calculator uses the €6,399 listing. In Europe, Woodpecker's Super Powder is a glycine formulation, not erythritol.
