Editorial Methodology
This page documents how Preventio Hub conducts research, verifies sources, and publishes content. It exists so clinicians and readers can assess the rigor behind every article on the site.
Source verification
Every clinical claim on Preventio Hub traces to a publicly verifiable source. For peer-reviewed research, this means a PubMed-indexed study with an accessible PMID. Author, year, journal, sample size, design, and primary findings are confirmed against PubMed before any citation is published. If a source cannot be verified — or if a manufacturer claim is not corroborated by published data — we either omit it or label it explicitly as "manufacturer-stated, not independently verified."
For equipment specifications, primary sources are manufacturer technical documentation, distributor catalogues, regulatory filings (CE marking, FDA clearance), and registered patents. If a spec is not publicly disclosed, we write "Not publicly disclosed" — never an estimate.
The "Never Invent" rule
Dental prophylaxis is a clinical field. Inaccurate equipment claims, fabricated study results, or invented prices can affect patient care decisions and create real liability for clinics. Our absolute rule: if a fact cannot be verified from a citable public source, we do not publish it. Empty cells in comparison tables and honest gaps in coverage are always preferable to plausible-sounding fabrication.
This rule applies to AI-assisted drafting as much as to human research. Generated text is reviewed against primary sources before publication; statements that cannot be traced are removed or replaced with verified alternatives.
Impartiality
Brands are listed alphabetically in every comparison, table, and enumeration on the site. No manufacturer pays for coverage. No manufacturer sees content before publication. No protocol receives preferential treatment based on brand affiliation — including Guided Biofilm Therapy, which is mentioned where clinically relevant but never positioned as the default approach.
Pricing convention
Equipment and consumable prices are stated ex-VAT across the site. Dental services in the EU are VAT-exempt under the EU VAT Directive, which means input VAT is unrecoverable for clinics. We publish ex-VAT figures for clean comparison and note the VAT context where relevant. Price ranges are sourced from European distributor surveys and timestamped with the verification date.
What "evidence-based" means here
An evidence-based claim on Preventio Hub is one supported by at least one published study, manufacturer technical specification, or regulatory document. Where evidence is contested, we report the contestation. Where evidence is limited or evolving, we say so. We do not present clinical certainty where the literature reports uncertainty.
Update cadence
Every article carries a "Last updated" timestamp. Equipment reviews are revisited at minimum annually, or when significant manufacturer revisions, regulatory changes, or new clinical evidence warrant a rewrite. Pricing data is verified quarterly. Citations are spot-checked when articles are republished.
Corrections
If you spot an error — a misquoted study, an outdated spec, a misattributed claim — please contact us. We correct errors transparently, with the date and nature of the correction noted in the article footer. Substantive corrections are not silently overwritten.
Out of scope
Preventio Hub does not provide clinical advice for individual patient cases. We do not endorse specific manufacturers or distributors. We do not publish proprietary or unpublished manufacturer data. Information on this site is for professional reference and educational purposes; clinical decisions for individual patients remain the responsibility of the treating clinician.
