Summary

The GBT Machine (EMS code FT-300A) is EMS's current combined tabletop unit for its Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) protocol. FDA lists it as "GBT Machine Airflow Prophylaxis Master" (510(k) K253254, decision date January 28, 2026), and EMS presents it as the successor to the AIRFLOW Prophylaxis Master. It combines an AIRFLOW MAX handpiece for supragingival air polishing, a PERIOFLOW MAX handpiece for subgingival work and a PIEZON piezoelectric scaler (NO PAIN MAX).

Who it may suit

It may be less suited to practices that want to source powders from several suppliers (EMS builds the protocol around its own powders) or that only need supragingival polishing (a coupling-mounted handpiece costs less; see handpiece vs combined unit).

RecordDetails
FDA 510(k)K253254, "GBT Machine Airflow Prophylaxis Master", E.M.S. Electro Medical Systems S.A., decision date 2026-01-28, substantially equivalent, product code ELC (21 CFR 872.4850), class II. Predicate: AIRFLOW Prophylaxis Master K190124.
FDA summaryDescribes a modified version of K190124; ultrasonic scaling in the 24-32 kHz range with piezoelectric vibration; compatible with EMS scaling instruments cleared under K190124 and with AIR-FLOW CLASSIC, AIR-FLOW PERIO (K190124) and AIR-FLOW PLUS (K171189) powders; includes a wireless Bluetooth foot pedal.
Indications (FDA summary)Scaling (supra- and subgingival calculus and stain removal, pocket lavage, scaling and root planing); air polishing (plaque, soft deposits and surface stains); listed cleaning procedures (sealant prep, bonding prep, orthodontic patients, implant fixtures before loading, stain removal for shade determination, before fluoride or whitening); use in patients with periodontal disease, and non-surgical removal of subgingival plaque in pockets up to 5 mm after initial periodontal treatment.
Health CanadaLicence 114177, "GBT MACHINE AIRFLOW PROPHYLAXIS MASTER", class II, first licensed 2025-10-21, issued (MDALL).

A 510(k) is a finding of substantial equivalence, not an FDA approval. Ask the supplier to confirm the clearance and licence cover the exact kit you are buying.
