Mectron Combi Touch: combined piezo scaler and air polisher

Summary
The Combi Touch is Mectron's combined tabletop unit (Mectron S.p.A., Carasco, Italy): a piezoelectric scaler with automatic 24-36 kHz scan and a powder air polisher with Prophy and Perio functions, two removable powder containers and heated polishing water, controlled from a glass touchscreen. Mectron's U.S. page lists two sets: standard and Perio.
Who it may suit
- Practices that want scaling (including endo, restorative and soft modes) and air polishing in one unit.
- Clinics that alternate between sodium bicarbonate and glycine powders in one session (two containers).
- Practices not committed to one manufacturer's protocol.
It may be less suited to practices with very limited bench space (the longest unit in our comparison at 410 mm) or buyers who want erythritol on the FDA summary for the unit (the summary lists sodium bicarbonate-based and glycine-based powders).

Standard set: combi touch; slim LED ultrasonic handpiece; scaling insert S1-S; perio insert P3; 500 ml bottle and safety cap; 120° air-polishing handpiece; two 160 g bottles of Sensitive+ glycine powder. Perio set: the standard set plus a PERIO air-polishing handpiece, a box of 40 subgingival perio tips and a K9 wrench.
Powders
Mectron lists sodium bicarbonate powders (soft M, soft L) and glycine powder Sensitive+. Mectron states that non-original powders void its warranty (Mectron clinical protocol; confirm the exact wording with your supplier).
